Color Field Paintings:
2014 – Present
This ongoing series is an ode to the wilderness of the interior self. Inspired by bottomless chasms in rock formations, infinite indigo voids undulating in the sea, pitch black shadows within sunlit bushes. Rocky Michigan beaches. Grubby skies. Swarming insects. Heat lightning. These paintings are meant to vibrate. To provide a place of refuge for overstimulated, world-weary, and complex minds.
“I love the shade and the shadow, and would be alone with my thoughts when I may.”
— Bram Stoker, from ‘Dracula’
